Industrial applications of concentrators include chemical plants (caustic and inorganic chemical concentrators), pulp and paper (pulping chemical concentrators), and the food industry (sugar, salt, and corn syrup production).

Reduce carryover

DEMISTER® and FLEXICHEVRON® mist eliminators reduce carryover of dissolved and undissolved solids to obtain specified overhead vapor product purity levels. This not only prevents product loss, but it also protects downstream equipment such as compressors and boilers and prevents potential pollution problems.  Selection of the right mist eliminator is key to resist fouling, provide low operating pressure drop, and achieve sound mechanical properties.

Zero discharge plants

Plants that are designed for minimal or zero water discharge typically have evaporators or brine concentrators that remove minerals and solids from plant water for recirculation. This process typically involves alloy mist eliminators that are installed in evaporator vapor bodies to achieve high-purity water for boiler feed or other applications.

For brine concentrators, Koch-Glitsch typically recommends DEMISTER® mist eliminators to help achieve a purity level of 1 to 50 parts per million (ppm) total dissolved solids (TDS) or FLEXICHEVRON® mist eliminators if brine buildup is excessive.
